Getting ready…
That did not work
We could not finish the report.
01 / What it checks
Six areas, read the way the machines read them.
The basics
Whether the site loads securely, at one address with or without www, fits a phone, and says "not found" when a page is missing. Boring, and the most common reason a good site underperforms.
Google search
The title and description people see on Google, the sitemap, robots.txt, headings, canonical tags, image descriptions, share previews, broken links and whether there is enough to read. Up to nine pages, not only the homepage.
AI assistants
Whether ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini are allowed in, whether the firewall actually lets them through, whether the words exist before JavaScript runs, and whether there is a machine-readable business card for them to quote.
Google and Bing profiles
Search Console and Bing Webmaster verification, read from the domain records, and the links between the site and your Google Business Profile. Bing matters more than it used to, because ChatGPT search leans on it.
Speed
How long the server takes to answer, how heavy the homepage is once every file is weighed, which images are oversized, and what holds the page up before anything appears.
Trust and the law
A privacy policy, a cookie banner where trackers are used, company details for a limited company, the basic security headers, email protection (SPF and DMARC), and whether the footer still says 2019.
02 / Questions
The things people worry about asking.
Is it actually free?
Yes. No card, no trial, no call booked for you. You get the report on screen and by email. If you would like me to do the fixes, the email says how to ask, and if you would rather do them yourself, every task says how to start.
What happens to my email address?
It is used to send you the report, and that is all, unless you also tick the box for the weekly email. The report is saved for twelve months so the link keeps working, then deleted automatically.
What is GEO?
Generative engine optimisation: making a site easy for AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini to read, trust and quote. More people now ask an assistant "who is a good plumber near me" than scroll through ten blue links, and the assistant can only recommend businesses it can read.
Does it check my Google Business Profile?
It checks the links between your site and your profile, and the Search Console and Bing verification on your domain. The profile itself lives on Google, so the report tells you exactly what to look at there and how.
How accurate is it?
Everything it reports is something it actually saw, and where an outside visit cannot be sure, it says so. A firewall can treat us differently to the real crawlers, for example, and a site verified through DNS shows no tag. It reads up to nine pages, so a very large site may have issues it did not reach.
Will it slow my site down or show up in my analytics?
No. It makes a few dozen ordinary requests over about a minute, less than one visitor clicking around. It does not run JavaScript, so analytics tools do not count it as a visit.
The weekly email
What changed in Google and AI this week, in five minutes.
Once a week: one change in search or AI worth knowing about, one thing a small business website actually needs, and one thing it can safely ignore. Plain English, written by me, never sold on.
Tell me what you are thinking.
Two fields are required and you are not committing to anything. Even if you are only half sure, send it. I would rather talk you out of something than sell you the wrong thing.
